About the Teacher
Dear St. Paul School and Congregation-
Thank you.
Thank you to the congregation for being a major support system for your teachers. Thank you to the faculty and staff for allowing for the growth and development of newer teachers. Thank you to the entire school and church community for the help that you provide to the students, and the support you provide for the school. Thanks to you all for making St. Paul a wonderful place to be.
In the nearly 3 years of service I’ve put into this school, I’ve met some pretty amazing, God-loving people: I’ve laughed with Sandy and Trisha in the office, I’ve sung devotions with the staff, and I’ve prayed and played with students from 3k to 8th grade. I have been incredibly lucky to have shared the path of life with some pretty awesome people, and it saddens me to have come to the realization that my time here has to come to an end.
While there are many factors that make this decision difficult, it is the students here that have made this decision the hardest one I’ve ever had to make - being their teacher has been nothing short of wonderful. These kids have taught me so much in my time here and they make learning together so much fun. I take great pride in that I have made genuine connections with each of my students because I know how much of an impact they’ve made on my life and teaching methods.
Unfortunately, however, I am realizing that I have not been the “happy-go-lucky” teacher that these kids have come to know and love; instead, it has become increasingly more difficult to connect with them and perform at my best. After months of thought, prayer, and tears over this decision, I’m realizing that I have allowed my mental health and personal well-being to fall to the wayside. In coming to the understanding that I haven’t been my best self, I have come to the prayerful conclusion that my time has come to step away from St. Paul.
My plan is to finish out the 2020-21 school year, which should allow the school board ample time to find a new 6th grade teacher for next year. I have the utmost faith that St. Paul will find an amazing replacement for my position and will do everything in my power to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible. I ask that you all continue to keep me in your prayers as I search for a new teaching position and continue to work on my personal and mental well being; I know I will be praying for the continued growth and spiritual upbringing here at St. Paul. Thank you all for sharing in this wonderful experience with me, and I wish you all the very best.
In Christ,
Ms. Morgan Mahan
